Privacy in Publication

Last Updated: April 2026

ETFLIN is dedicated to managing your personal information with the highest standards of integrity and security. We understand that your privacy is a priority, and we ensure that data collection is limited to what is necessary for the integrity and transparency of the scholarly record.

Management of Participant and Professional Data

Our data handling practices are tailored to the specific roles individuals play within the editorial and research process.

Editor and Reviewer Information

We collect names, affiliations, and professional expertise to maintain the quality of our journals.

  • Editor Visibility: Only professional links and affiliations are displayed publicly. Personal contact information remains strictly confidential, with all official communication routed through @etflin.com emails.

  • Reviewer Anonymity: Reviewers have the option to remain anonymous. Their data is not shared without explicit consent, and only names and affiliations appear on our journal pages to acknowledge their contribution.

Author Data

For published research, we collect comprehensive identifiers such as Scopus IDs, ORCID iDs, and academic credentials.

  • Consent-Based Display: Data is only displayed with explicit consent provided during the submission process.

  • Correspondence: We maintain contact information to ensure proper communication between authors and the global research community.

Contributor and Patient Privacy

Protecting the privacy of research subjects is a core ethical obligation. ETFLIN rigorously ensures that any data pertaining to research participants, particularly patients, is handled with extreme care.

All contributor data is published anonymously or pseudonymously, strictly adhering to the terms established in the informed consent process. We do not publish identifying images or specific personal details unless they are scientifically essential and the subject has provided explicit, written permission for publication.

For a deeper look into these protections, you can Read our Ethics and Consent Policy.

Data Protection Rights

Under global data protection regulations (such as GDPR), you have specific rights regarding your personal information. These include:

  • The Right to Access: You can request copies of the personal data we hold about you.

  • The Right to Rectification: You may ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.

  • The Right to Erasure: Under certain conditions, you may request that we delete your personal data, provided it does not compromise the integrity of the published scientific record (the "Version of Record").

  • The Right to Object: You can object to the processing of your data for specific purposes, such as marketing communications.

Security Measures and Data Retention

We utilize industry-standard security protocols to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. Personal information is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

Because academic publishing requires a permanent record, certain information associated with published articles (such as author names and affiliations) will remain part of the public record indefinitely to preserve the transparency and history of the research.
