Editorial Management
Last Updated: April 2026
ETFLIN maintains a robust editorial framework designed to safeguard the quality and credibility of our academic publications. Our policies ensure that every individual involved in the editorial process operates with the highest level of professional ethics and scientific oversight.
Editorial Selection and Professional Standards
The process of appointing editorial board members is a rigorous professional undertaking intended to maintain the integrity of our journals. We focus on Expertise Identification, specifically seeking individuals who have demonstrated notable contributions to their respective fields and possess a profound understanding of emerging research trends.
In addition to academic merit, we prioritize Diversity and Representation. Our selection process actively considers geographic distribution, gender balance, and institutional inclusivity to ensure a global and fair perspective in our decision-making. Every candidate undergoes a thorough Qualification Review, evaluating their academic background, publication record, and standing within the scientific community. Furthermore, a Commitment Assessment is conducted to ensure that each editor can dedicate the necessary time to fulfill their responsibilities effectively and maintain the journal’s operational pace.
Rights and Responsibilities of the Editorial Board
Editors are granted the ultimate Decision-Making Authority regarding the content of their journals. This includes the power to accept, request revisions for, or reject manuscripts based strictly on scientific rigor and relevance to the journal’s scope. This authority is exercised independently of commercial or institutional pressures to preserve the purity of the scientific record.
Confidentiality remains a non-negotiable pillar of our editorial operations. Editors are responsible for maintaining the anonymity of peer reviewers and protecting the intellectual property of authors until the moment of publication. This ensures a safe environment for critical evaluation and prevents the premature disclosure of sensitive research findings.
Performance Oversight and Termination
ETFLIN observes strict fairness and due process in all matters related to the performance of editorial members. Termination or dismissal proceedings may be initiated in instances of ethical breaches, professional misconduct, or a persistent failure to meet editorial responsibilities.
To ensure stability, we implement performance reviews and Succession Planning. This ensures that transitions in the editorial board are handled smoothly, maintaining the continuity of the journal's vision and preventing delays in the peer-review process.
Internal Publications and Conflict of Interest
Editors are permitted to publish editorial articles or research within their own journals, provided these submissions are managed through a transparent, independent process. To prevent institutional bias and comply with international standards such as the DOAJ guidelines, such publications must not exceed 25% of the total content across the two most recent issues. This ensures that the journal remains a platform for the broader scientific community rather than a closed circuit for internal contributors.
Regarding Special Transitions, we have established a "cooling-off" period. Previous authors or reviewers who wish to join the editorial board may apply after a period of at least two published issues. This buffer is designed to eliminate any potential conflict of interest and ensure that new editors approach their roles with complete impartiality.
Editorial Independence and External Influence
A critical aspect of our policy is the absolute independence of the editorial board from the publisher's commercial interests. Financial sponsors, advertisers, or corporate partners have no influence over the editorial decision-making process.
Should an editor feel that their independence is being compromised by external parties, ETFLIN provides a formal reporting mechanism to investigate and resolve these pressures. This safeguard ensures that the scientific validity of the research remains the sole criterion for publication, upholding the trust that the global research community places in our journals.
