The Impact of Body Image on Self-Confidence in Adolescent Girls

Satriya Dwi Prayoga, Yusuf Ratu Agung

Adolescent girls commonly experience body image concerns that may influence their psychological well-being, particularly their self-confidence. This study examined the relationship between body image and self-confidence among 12th-grade female students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Kota Pasuruan using a quantitative correlational design. Data were collected from 50 students through validated body image and self-confidence scales, and the analysis was conducted using SPSS version 25.0. The findings indicated a significant positive relationship between body image and self-confidence (r = 0.694, p < 0.05), with body image contributing 48.1% to the variance in self-confidence (R² = 0.481). These results suggest that students with more positive perceptions of their physical appearance tend to demonstrate higher levels of self-confidence. While the findings provide meaningful insights into adolescent psychological development within an Islamic school context, the study’s relatively small sample size and single-school setting limit the generalizability of the results. Nevertheless, the study highlights the importance of addressing body-related attitudes in educational environments and offers valuable considerations for educators and counselors aiming to support students’ mental well-being and self-confidence.

Extraversion and Assertive Behavior Among Millennial Satpol-PP Officers in Probolinggo

Meifiana Eka Yulianto Putri, Nuzul Ahadiyanto

Public dissatisfaction with government services in Indonesia highlights the need to strengthen civil servants’ interpersonal communication competencies. Drawing on Eysenck’s personality theory, this study investigated the relationship between extraversion and assertive behavior among millennial Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol-PP) officers in Probolinggo City. Employing a quantitative correlational design, all 184 officers born between 1981 and 1996 (Mage = 38.4 years; 73.9% male, 26.1% female) participated through total population sampling. Extraversion was measured using the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Revised Short Form (EPQR-S), while assertive behavior was assessed with the Assertiveness Inventory by Alberti and Emmons. Pearson’s Product-Moment correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between extraversion and assertive behavior, r(182) = .389, p < .001, 95% CI [.26, .51]. This indicates that officers with higher levels of extraversion tend to exhibit more assertive behavior. However, the effect size was small to moderate, suggesting that extraversion explains only a limited portion of the variance in assertive behavior. The findings emphasize that while personality traits contribute to assertiveness, other psychological, situational, or organizational factors may play a more substantial role in shaping interpersonal effectiveness among civil servants.

Optimizing Museum Functions to Enhance Motivation and Knowledge in History Learning: A Case Study at MAN 1 Kota Probolinggo

Septian Dwi Prasetyo, Aniek Rahmaniah

Museums remain underutilized as learning resources in Indonesian secondary schools, limiting students’ exposure to authentic local historical knowledge. This study examined the effectiveness of optimizing museum functions as a learning resource in history education at MAN 1 Kota Probolinggo, focusing on how museum-based learning supports motivation, knowledge acquisition, and student participation. Using a qualitative descriptive design complemented by supporting quantitative indicators, the research involved one history teacher, the school principal, and 20 Grade X students selected through purposive sampling as information-rich cases. Data were collected through interviews, classroom and museum observations, document analysis, and pre- and post-tests, which served as supplementary not definitive indicators of learning enhancement. The findings show increased student engagement during museum activities, with richer explanations and more detailed historical descriptions emerging in oral presentations and written reports. Although post-test scores showed a 45% increase in correct responses, these results must be interpreted cautiously because the assessments were not rigorously validated. Qualitative evidence from observations and interviews consistently indicated improvements in curiosity, collaborative behavior, and contextual understanding of local history. Given the small sample, single-site context, and absence of control or comparison groups, conclusions cannot be generalized. Future research should involve multiple schools or districts, employ validated assessment tools, and integrate longitudinal or mixed-method designs to determine the sustainability and broader applicability of museum-based learning.

Effectiveness of Apigenin–Banana Stem (Musa paradisiaca) Combination Gel on Incised Wound Healing

Sofi Nurmay Stiani, Astri Selviani, Farahdina Chairani, Yusransyah Yusransyah, Baha Udin

Wound healing is a complex biological process involving inflammation, proliferation, and tissue remodeling. Delayed healing increases the risk of infection and other complications. Ambon banana stem (Musa acuminata) contains flavonoids, polyphenols, and tannins that support tissue regeneration, while apigenin exhibits anti-inflammatory and pro-regenerative activities. The combination of these two agents is expected to enhance wound repair. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a gel containing Ambon banana stem powder and apigenin in promoting wound healing in Sprague Dawley rats. A linear incision wound (1.5 cm × 2 mm) was created on the dorsal skin of anesthetized rats. Twenty-four male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into six groups (n = 4): untreated control (F0), negative control (gel base), positive control (Bioplacenton®), and three test formulations (F1: 5% banana stem + 10% apigenin; F2: 7.5% + 7.5%; F3: 10% + 5%). Wound length was measured daily for eight days using a digital caliper, and the percentage of wound closure was calculated. All combination gels significantly accelerated wound contraction compared with the negative control (p < 0.001). Formula F3 demonstrated the fastest healing, achieving complete closure on day 5 (1.50 ± 0.00 cm to 0.00 ± 0.00 cm), whereas the positive control reached 87.8 ± 0.15% closure by day 8. No significant differences were observed among the three test formulations. The accelerated healing is attributed to the synergistic effects of banana stem phytochemicals and apigenin. Overall, the combination gel effectively promotes wound healing and shows potential as a natural-based topical therapeutic.

Multi-Criteria Evaluation of Open Source HRIS Using the AHP-TOPSIS Method

Anisatul Mukaramah, Syahiduz Zaman

Organizations are increasingly adopting open-source Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) due to their cost-efficiency, configurability, and scalability. However, selecting the most suitable platform remains a major challenge due to diverse functional requirements. This study aims to determine the most appropriate Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) HRIS based on key decision-making criteria. A comparative evaluation was conducted on three platforms, IceHRM, OrangeHRM, and Sentrifugo, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to calculate criterion weights and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to rank the alternatives. Seven HR functional domains, including employee management, attendance, recruitment, and payroll, formed the evaluation framework. The results indicate that IceHRM achieved the highest relative closeness score (RC = 0.7892), followed by OrangeHRM (RC = 0.7428), and Sentrifugo (RC = 0.0133). Based on the evaluation model, IceHRM is identified as the most suitable option due to its alignment with prioritized functional criteria. The proposed AHP-TOPSIS approach provides an objective and replicable decision-support model for organizations undertaking HRIS selection as part of digital transformation initiatives.

Assessment of Water Quality Parameters in Penaeus monodon Culture Ponds: Implications for Sustainable Shrimp Aquaculture

Muh Yusril AL Tulus, Diana Maulianawati

Shrimp aquaculture depends on stable water quality, but fluctuations often reduce growth and survival, making optimal conditions essential for sustainable Penaeus monodon culture. This study aimed to evaluate key water quality parameters in two shrimp ponds and assess their suitability against established aquaculture standards. Field measurements and laboratory analyses were conducted over ten weeks across three sampling stations in each pond. Parameters measured included pH, temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen (DO), nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, phosphate, and water hardness. Results showed that pH ranged from 7.29–7.80, temperature from 31.40–32.00 °C, salinity from 17.30–17.88 ppt, and DO from 5.29–5.87 mg/L, all within acceptable limits (SNI 8038.1:2014). Nutrient concentrations varied, with nitrate (0–0.4 mg/L), nitrite (0–0.4 mg/L), ammonia (0.1–0.4 mg/L), and phosphate (0–0.5 mg/L), where ammonia occasionally exceeded the safe threshold of 0.1 mg/L. Water hardness ranged from 0.17–0.43 mg/L CaCO₃, below the reference limit of 100 mg/L CaCO₃. Overall, the ponds provided suitable conditions for shrimp growth, but elevated nutrient levels at certain periods indicate the need for improved feed and waste management. Maintaining balanced water quality is essential to optimizing shrimp health, enhancing productivity, and ensuring the sustainability of aquaculture practices.

Long Bean Response to Triple Super Phosphate and Kascing Fertilizer

Veronika Vellin

This thesis examines the growth response and yield performance of long bean (Vigna sinensis L.) variety Pertiwi F1 in relation to the application of Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) and Kascing (earthworm castings) fertilizers. The study employed an experimental approach using a factorial design to assess plant responses to various fertilizer dosages and to determine the most effective treatment for optimizing growth and production. The research measured key parameters including plant height, number of branches, pod length, pod weight, and total yield. The results demonstrated that TSP fertilizer significantly influenced fruit weight, with the optimal effect observed at a dosage of 10.8 g per polybag (equivalent to 300 kg/ha). In contrast, Kascing fertilizer did not produce significant effects on most growth and yield parameters, although the application of 72 g per polybag (equivalent to 20 tons/ha) resulted in the highest pod yield among the Kascing treatments. Additionally, the interaction between TSP and Kascing fertilizers showed no significant impact on the observed variables. The novelty of this research lies in its combined evaluation of inorganic and organic fertilizers in a polybag cultivation system, which is relevant for small-scale and limited-land agricultural practices. The strength of this study is its evidence-based recommendations that contribute to more efficient fertilization strategies, offering practical guidance for improving long bean productivity under controlled cultivation conditions.

The Effective Contribution of Psychological Well-Being and Adjustment to Loneliness Among Out-of-Town University Students

Via Pristinia Putra Dadang

Loneliness is a common issue among university students, particularly those living away from home. This study explores how psychological well-being and student adjustment together influence loneliness among Indonesian university students living independently. Using established measures of psychological well-being, college adjustment, and loneliness, data from 171 participants were analyzed through multiple regression. The results show that higher psychological well-being and better adjustment are both linked to lower loneliness, with adjustment emerging as the stronger predictor. This finding highlights that loneliness is shaped not only by emotional health but also by how well students adapt to new academic and social environments. The study offers new insight into the simultaneous roles of psychological well-being and adjustment in explaining loneliness, adding cross-cultural evidence from Indonesia to global research on student mental health. Practically, the results suggest that universities should promote adjustment and well-being through mentoring, resilience training, and counseling programs that support students’ adaptation and emotional balance.
